Governors

Achieve Believe Expect Enjoy

We will be a group made up of staff, parents, and members of the local community who
are involved in the life of our schools. Staff and parent members are elected to their roles

This section of the website will share key information about governance at Brighter Futures
Educational Trust.

If you can’t find what you’re looking for or have any questions, please get in touch —
we’re happy to help.

The Role of the Governing Body

Our Governing Board focuses on three key areas:

  • Setting a clear vision, values, and long-term direction for our schools
  • Holding the Headteachers to account for the education and progress of all pupils
  • Overseeing school finances to make sure public money is used wisely

The full Governing Board meets three times a year — once each term.

  • Autumn and Spring meetings take place in the evening
  • The Summer meeting is held after lunch with the children

Teaching & Learning Committee

This group supports continuous improvement in teaching and learning. It meets twice each
term to

  • Review key policies
  • Discuss school data, pupil progress, and teaching outcomes
  • Ask questions and share feedback
  • Monitor safeguarding and support for disadvantaged children
  • Carry out learning walks around the school

The committee encourages governors to work closely with school leaders — offering both
support and challenge. Their input helps shape the school’s future

Examples of impact:

  • A reading survey led to new books and changes in how pupils access them
  • A push for better teaching standards led to training and one-to-one coaching for staff

Resources Committee

This group looks after:

  • School finances
  • Staffing matters
  • Buildings and grounds

Governors visit the school to help identify what’s needed to maintain high-quality, safe and
welcoming learning spaces for pupils.

All governors have DBS checks. They are not involved in day-to-day management — that
is led by the Headteacher and senior leadership team

Their role is to help the school grow stronger through good oversight, honest challenge,
and positive collaboration
