A Day at Larwood School

At Larwood School, we provide a structured yet engaging daily routine for our pupils. Each day begins with important morning activities that help children settle and prepare for learning.

Morning Activities

Most mornings start with Circle Time or individualised soft starts, giving pupils the opportunity to share thoughts and prepare for the day ahead. Daily phonics sessions help develop essential reading skills, while numeracy fluency activities build mathematical confidence.

Special Assemblies

Our week features several special assemblies:

Monday mornings feature our Singing Assembly, where pupils come together to enjoy
music
Tuesday mornings include our Topic Assembly, focusing on curriculum themes
Friday mornings start with our Praise Assembly, celebrating pupils' achievements

Subject Learning

Throughout the week, pupils engage with a varied curriculum including:

History and Geography sessions
Science exploration
PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic education)
French language learning
Music, including Djembe drumming sessions

Additional Enrichment

Our programme is enhanced by:

Weekly Forest School sessions, providing outdoor learning experiences
Skills development on Thursdays
Friday rewards to recognise positive behaviour and achievements

Breaks and Lunch

The school day includes appropriate breaks in the afternoons and a lunch period from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm, giving children time to refuel, socialise and enjoy recreational activities.

This balanced approach ensures our pupils receive a well-rounded education that nurtures academic progress alongside personal development.

10:00 am - 11:15 am	Morning Break (please note, morning break varies by class – this is an example timing)
10:15 am – 11:00 am	Session 2
11:00 am – 12:00 pm	Session 3
12:00 pm – 12:30 pm	Session 4
12:30 pm – 1:30 pm	Lunch (Space Hub and the younger years eat at 12)
1:30 pm – 2:15 pm	Session 5
2:15 pm – 3:00 pm	Session 6
3:20 pm	Pupils go home

Fridays only:
9:00 am	Rewards Assembly
