School Uniform

Our uniform helps pupils feel part of Team Larwood, promotes pride and belonging, and ensures children are dressed safely and appropriately for learning and play. We offer sensory-friendly options to support comfort and regulation throughout the day.

If you need support with uniform or sizing, please contact the relevant site office – we’re here to help.

Where to Buy

Branded items are available via School Trends. Non-branded items may be bought from high-street retailers, provided they meet the colour and style guidance below.

Everyday Uniform

  • Polo shirt: navy or school-branded.
  • Jumper or cardigan: Larwood-branded or plain navy.
  • Trousers/shorts: plain black or grey.
  • Skirt/pinafore: plain black or grey (knee-length).
  • Optional summer dress: navy gingham.
  • Socks/tights: black, grey or white.
  • Outerwear: a suitable coat for the weather (labelled).

Sensory-friendly options

We recognise that some pupils have specific sensory needs. Acceptable alternatives include:

  • Plain navy t-shirt with or without the branding.
  • Elasticated waist trousers/shorts without stiff fastenings.
  • Tag-free/printed labels or labels cut out (please ensure names are still clearly marked).
  • Soft-knit jumpers/cardigans without scratchy trims.
  • PE joggers with soft waistbands and minimal seams.

If you’re unsure whether an item is suitable, please contact the office for guidance.

Footwear

  • Plain black, flat shoes or plain black trainers suitable for active play.
  • No open-toed sandals, heels or brightly coloured footwear for safety reasons.
  • Sensory note: pupils may wear softer, supportive black trainers if these are more comfortable and safe.
  • Plimsolls are needed for indoors, including indoor PE – although children may have bare or socked feet in the classroom, but not while walking through the school.

PE and Sport Kit

  • T-shirt: plain white or school-branded.
  • Shorts/joggers: plain black or navy.
  • Sweatshirt/hoodie (for cooler weather): plain black or navy.
  • Trainers: suitable for outdoor sport.
  • Plimsolls as above.
  • Swimming (if applicable): one-piece costume or swim shorts, towel, and swimming hat where required.

Please ensure PE kit is kept in a named bag and is in school on the correct days.

Jewellery, Hair and Accessories

  • Jewellery: not permitted, except a wristwatch and small stud earrings.
  • Earrings must be removed or taped for PE (please provide tape if needed).
  • Hair should be neat and tied back if long (for safety and hygiene).
  • Hair accessories should be small and in school colours.

Labelling and Appearance

  • Clearly label all clothing and footwear with your child’s name.
  • Uniform should be clean and in good repair.
  • Pupils should come ready for learning and play in all weather.

Reasonable Adjustments and Support

We will make reasonable adjustments to uniform requirements for:

  • Sensory needs or medical reasons.
  • Religious or cultural observance.
  • Exceptional circumstances agreed in advance with the school.
