Supporting our students and families with their emotional and social needs
Our Family Support Workers act as a key link between home, school and external agencies to support pupil wellbeing, attendance and engagement. They provide guidance and signposting to families on matters affecting learning, behaviour and welfare, contributing to improved outcomes for our students.
They are often the first point of contact for our families experiencing any change or challenge in their circumstances. Working across the whole school allows the Family Support Work team to build and maintain trusted relationships with students throughout their school journey. They are an integral part of Larwood’s Safeguarding team, engaging with families to identify needs early and promote effective support, intervention and attendance.
The Family Support Workers will often refer, coordinate and lead multi-agency/family meetings, acting sensitively and with discretion in line with Safeguarding policy and best practice. As experienced professionals they will also support admissions and transitions for students new to Larwood or moving onto new settings as and when appropriate.
Working with families across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire, our Family Support Worker team are happy to help families requiring external referrals to access appropriate professional services to ensure students are safe, supported and working towards successful outcomes.
